Patient #13 - BOTOX

Provider : Holly Happe

Details

Gummy smiles occur for a variety of reasons, most commonly:
a short upper lip,
hypermobile lip (lip moves too much), excessive gum tissue or small teeth, all of which are genetic.
A gummy smile can be disheartening to the person wearing it. I had a new patient yesterday that said she would rather not smile at all then have her gummy smile.

Treating a gummy smile can be done with several methods including: orthodontics lip repositioning surgery dental surgery
botox fillers

Botox is injected into the muscles that elevate the upper lip #botox, #juveau, #dysport, #xeomen (all neuromodulators that relax the muscles that are over contracting to create this effect). The injections will need to be repeated every 3-6 months. This is off label use of these drugs and should be done by an experienced provider.

Fillers such as #Juvederm, #versa #restylane can be injected into the lip to add body to the lip which will lead the lip hitting the teeth at a lower point and less gum show.

In this patient very minimal #lip-filler was used to add subtle volume to lip and the result was less gummy show.

*Individual patient results may vary
