IS OPUS PLASMA® MORE EFFECTIVE THAN FIBROBLASTING?
COMPARE ADVANCED SKIN TIGHTENING PROCEDURES FOR NEWTON AND BOSTON AREA PATIENTS
Opus Plasma® and fibroblasting are often mistaken for the same treatment, but they are actually two distinct approaches to skin rejuvenation. While both aim to enhance the appearance of your skin, each works differently and offers its own unique set of benefits. Although we do not offer fibroblasting at our Boston area practice, we can provide some general information to help you make informed decisions.

WHAT IS FIBROBLASTING?
Fibroblasting, also known as plasma pen treatment, plasma fibroblast therapy, or plasma skin resurfacing, is a non-surgical skin tightening treatment that uses a handheld device to generate a plasma arc. This arc creates tiny, controlled injuries on the skin’s surface, triggering the body’s natural healing response and stimulating collagen and elastin production. The goal is to tighten and rejuvenate the skin, improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and mild skin laxity.
One of the main advantages of fibroblasting is that it can deliver noticeable results without surgery. However, there are drawbacks. The treatment often causes visible scabbing and redness, with downtime lasting up to ten days. There’s also a higher risk of hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation, particularly in individuals with medium to dark skin tones. While fibroblasting can be effective, it requires careful aftercare and is not suitable for all skin types.
IS OPUS PLASMA® THE SAME THING AS FIBROBLASTING?
Let’s set the record straight—Opus Plasma® is not the same as traditional fibroblasting, even though both utilize plasma technology. Fibroblasting delivers a plasma stream generated from electrical energy, oxygen, and nitrogen to create controlled injuries on the skin’s surface.
Opus Plasma®, on the other hand, represents a more advanced, precise, and customizable technology. This is a next-generation treatment that elevates traditional radiofrequency skin tightening by combining it with plasma energy, delivering more precise and transformative results. By stimulating collagen and tightening the skin, Opus Plasma® can improve concerns such as bags under the eyes, forehead creases, and tech neck. It is designed to be safer and more comfortable than traditional fibroblast treatments, and it can treat a wider range of skin concerns. With Opus Plasma®, we can target the specific concern that is bothering a patient or address multiple concerns simultaneously. This treatment is also effective for skin resurfacing–it can improve uneven pigmentation and soften fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, Opus Plasma® can be used for deeper skin tightening to improve more pronounced wrinkles and laxity.
Fibroblasting and Opus Plasma® each offer distinct advantages. We’ll work with you to determine which one best aligns with your skin goals, concerns, and comfort level.
